Space to Grow
Space to Grow transforms underused Chicago schoolyards into vibrant spaces. By engaging the school community in the design process, the schoolyards provide neighborhoods and students with a space for play, outdoor learning, and community gathering. The program is a partnership between Healthy Schools Campaign and Openlands, with capital funds from Chicago Public Schools and city agencies.
I led the branding process with both organizations, creating a logo and design system reflective of the school communities and their ownership of the entire Space to Grow process. Each schoolyard has signage designed for K-5 students to approach and learn about the green infrastructure elements. I also led the design and development process of the program website for both organizations.
